RHINELANDER - Family and friends of Dick Marks will gather tomorrow to wish him farewell.

Dick was 91 when he passed away a couple of weeks ago.

He lived his whole life in Rhinelander.

He was beloved for many reasons, including his smile and sense of humor.

But history will record that he was the last living teammate of the 1939 Hodag basketball team.

That state championship team was the first, and so far Hodag basketball team to win it all in Wisconsin's version of March Madness.

This season's Hodags start tournament play Friday night.

It's certain Dick will be looking down on them and rooting hard for the Hodags.

If you're a Hodag and would like to pay your respects to Dick, the service begins at 11:00 AM Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rhinelander.

White House: Obama to be in Milwaukee on Labor DaySubmitted: 08/28/2014

- The White House says President Barack Obama will travel to Milwaukee on Monday to speak at a Labor Day event. It gave no specifics about the event.

A spokesman for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke said she will attend Laborfest on Monday. Burke won't take the stage with President Obama.

Burke spokesman Joe Zepecki says it is not appropriate for Burke to speak at the rally Obama is attending because it is an official White House event and not a campaign rally. Zepecki says Burke has invited Obama to return for a campaign event before the election and is optimistic that will happen.
