Evidence submitted to court for man accused of soliciting sex onlineSubmitted: 02/19/2014
Story By Shardaa Gray

RHINELANDER - A Michigan man faces charges in Oneida County for soliciting sex from a 15 year old.

25 year old Benjamin Lahti of Ironwood was caught in a child sex sting.

He thought he was talking to a 15 year old.

But it turns out it was an undercover sheriff's deputy.

Prosecutors say he sent the supposed teenager naked pictures of himself and wanted to meet her for sex in Minocqua.

Lahti was arrested when he met an undercover officer in Minocqua last year.

The prosecutor presented eight pieces of evidence to the court.

One of them was an interview with Lahti after he was arrested.

"I didn't think a 15 year old… I mean I didn't believe when she said she was 15," Lahti said.

"I never really thought in the back of my head that she was a 15 year old girl because of the disclaimer on Craigslist."

Prosecutors also presented pictures of a young girl that were downloaded on Lahti's cell phone.

His trial date has not been set yet.
