Northland Pines girls' hockey captures GNC title
EAGLE RIVER - The two top girls hockey teams in the Great Northern Conference met in Eagle
River tonight.

State-ranked Northland Pines was unbeaten in the conference going in. They
could wrap up the conference title tonight. Standing in their way, the Northern
Edge. They had an outside shot of tying for tops in the conference.

But Northland Pines exploded for three goals in the third period. Kali Ebert
scored twice in the period, including a short-handed goal for the game-winner.

Northland Pines wrapped up the conference with the 4-1 victory.


Marie Sandstrom scored the game's first goal for the Northern Edge in the first
period.

In the second, Amanda Sergent and Cali Sanborn combined to tie the game.
Sanborn redirected Sergent's shot to score the goal. It made the score 1-1
after two periods.

With the victory, Northland Pines remained unbeaten (11-0-1) in the GNC. The
Northern Edge fell to (10-2-1) in conference play. Each team has one game
remaining before next week's regional round.

WAUSAU - Ales, lagers, or stouts - every beer connoisseur has a favorite. But Tuesday, one ale garnered the most attention. 

Beer drinkers from far and wide gathered at Red Eye Brewing in Wausau to try something totally new.
Tuesday evening Red Eye released a beer unlike any other.

"A lot of you are here for probably the craziest beer release we've ever done in the history of Red Eye," said Brewmaster and Co-owner Kevin Eichelberger.

The beer is brewed in the same way as most. It's an American Pale Ale and it's fairly hoppy.

WASHINGTON D.C. - 33 Korean War Era veterans, 50 Vietnam Era veterans, and 5 World War II Era veterans boarded the 31st Never Forgotten Honor Flight Monday morning. 

"[It's] unbelievable what's going on," said one veteran. 

Flight #8651 left Central Wisconsin Airport Monday morning for Reagan National Airport. From there, police escorts led buses filled with veterans from around north central Wisconsin to visit memorials in Washington D.C. They visited Korean, Vietnam, and Lincoln Memorials.
