Man allegedly steals car 2 hours after out of jailSubmitted: 02/09/2014
Story By Associated Press

BELOIT - A Beloit man is accused of stealing a car and leading police on a high speed
chase - just two hours after he was released from the Rock County Jail.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office says police got a call about a stolen car
early Sunday, and a deputy spotted the vehicle traveling south on U.S. Highway
51 in Beloit Township.

The man led the deputy on a chase that reached speeds of about 100 mph.

Authorities say the man then lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a
traffic control signal in Beloit.

He then got out of the car and fled on foot. Police arrested him near the
Beloit Public Library.

He's now back in the jail, and expected to be charged Monday with multiple
counts.
