Wis. DOT releases mobile app for CDL applicantsSubmitted: 02/08/2014

MADISON - The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has created a mobile app to help
those studying to obtain a commercial driver license.

The free mobile app allows drivers studying for the CDL knowledge test to use
their smartphones to quiz themselves.

Division of Motor Vehicles administrator Patrick Fernan says the app is a great
way to prepare for the CDL written test.

He says the hope is the app will improve test scores for those seeking the
commercial license.

Users of the app can take a 15 question multiple choice test and review their
scores instantly.

The test can be retaken as often as needed and scores can be tracked over time.

WAUSAU - Police in Wausau want to find the man who held up a convenience store overnight.

About 1:30 this morning, The Store gas station on Stewart Avenue was robbed by a masked man.

He ordered the clerk to load all the money into a black backpack.

The suspect tripped when coming out from behind the counter, dropping some of the money and many packs of cigarettes.

A man in the store wrestled the gun away from the suspect.

It turned out to be plastic.

The suspect hit the customer in the face, grabbed the gun and ran away on foot.

The suspect was a light skinned black male, around 20 years old, with a thin build and dark black hair.

He had a black t-shirt wrapped around his face.

CRANDON - Steven Roberts stumbled to the witness stand on Thursday. Missing part of his left foot, he mostly walks with a walker.

A Forest County jury will decide if what Ray Jones, 46, did to Roberts is enough to convict Jones of attempted murder.

"I got beat up for two days, and left out in the woods for twenty-some-odd hours in freezing cold weather," testified Roberts.
