EAGLE RIVER - More than 60 military members and their families set out for an adventure in the snow.

It's the fifth year the Derby Track has honored the troops by giving them a unique experience.

"Being a military person myself, we decided to do something for the military," Eagle River Derby Track marketing director Richard Decker explains. "These guys do so much for all of us."

Everything was provided, including warm clothing and the sleds.
The troops were also given tickets to Sunday's World Championship and were put up at the Derby Inn Hotel.

Among the honored riders were Taylor and Noorie York from Madison.

"Shortly after we got married, my husband was deployed to Iraq," Noorie said. "We moved to a new town. I didn't know anybody. Being able to do something with other military families is really fun."

After the trail ride, the drivers got a thrill of a lifetime. By taking a few laps around the derby track.
