UPDATE: Name released for elderly woman killed in house fireSubmitted: 12/27/2013

ANTIGO - 85 year old Thelma Bula died after a house fire in Antigo Thursday afternoon, according to the Antigo Fire Department.

The Antigo Fire department says the fire start just before 2 p.m. at 1418 Arctic Street.

The home was covered with thick smoke when Police and Firefighters got to the fire.

Firefighters were able to get Bula out of the home.

Officials say she was unconscious.

Bula was taken to the Langlade Hospital where was pronounced dead.

The Langlade County Fire Investigation team is looking into a cause of the fire.

Police say the home received extensive damage.


A elderly woman is in the hospital after a house fire in Antigo this afternoon, according to the Antigo Fire Department.

The Antigo Fire department says the fire start just before two on Arctic Street.

Firefighters were able to get the woman out of the home. She was taken to an area hospital.

There is no word on her condition.

As of 7 p.m., crews are still at the home putting out hot spots to prevent the fire from restarting.
