Free chance to try ice fishingSubmitted: 12/23/2013
Story By Associated Press

MADISON - People can give ice fishing a try for free during a special weekend next month.

The Department of Natural Resources will let people fish anywhere in the state on the weekend of January 18th and January 19th.

You will not need a license or a trout stamp.

The free weekend applies to all inland waters and Wisconsin's side of the Great Lakes and Mississippi River.

Anglers must still need to follow rules like bag limits and size restrictions, however.

The DNR will let anglers who lack equipment borrow ice-fishing tip-ups and jigging rods from a number of state park and agency offices.

A list of loaner sites is available on the DNR's website.
