Lemmens brotherns to have family hoops war Friday
RHINELANDER, EAGLE RIVER - In boys basketball on Friday Night, Wausau West is in Rhinelander.

This is our Game of the Week on Friday Night Blitz.

It's a battle of brothers. Derek Lemmens, is the Hodags head coach. His brother Nate is in his first year at West. Nate and Derek are also former Hodag players.

In fact, Nate helped out at the Hodags summer camp back in July.

But even back then, both brothers were looking forward to this Friday's family hoops battle.

"I'm sure (Rhinelander) will be packed," Nate explains. "I'm looking forward to it, but at the same time I'm not looking forward to it."

"I'm excited to play against him," Derek adds. "It's a nice mix. (Rhinelander) is Division Two, (Wausau West) is Division One. It won't effect us necessarily for playoffs. It's just for pride. It's just to say, 'I got you this year.'"

Tuesday night, the Hodag boys handed Antigo their first loss of the season. Rhinelander won 48-44.

In boys basketball, Hayward defeated Northland Pines 51-42. To check out the highlights, click on the video above.

MERRILL - Just a few weeks ago, Wisconsinites spent hours shoveling and plowing from the latest dump of spring snow.

But Thursday, people put down their shovels and picked up their golf clubs.

"It was depressing to see white stuff still on the ground," said Northwoods golfer Merle Sheridan.

Sheridan recently came back from visiting Florida. He didn't think he would be golfing anytime soon in the Northwoods.

"I'm thrilled to be able to join my three [golf] partners and play in Merrill," said Sheridan.

Sheridan and dozens of others spent the Thursday at the Merrill Golf Club.

After multiple heavy spring snowfalls, many golf courses pushed back their opening date.

"It hurts us a little bit but we will make up for it in the rest of the year," said Merrill Golf Club Head Golf Pro Mike Potter.
