Three Lakes wrestling, Pines boys hoops drop home battles
THREE LAKES, EAGLE RIVER - In wrestling, Lakeland opened the year in Three Lakes. Three Lakes finished 5th last week at the Antigo Invite to open the year.


At 120 pounds, Eric Hamilton of Three Lakes pinned Michael Holton of the T-Birds.

But Lakeland would come storming back.

Jake McClintock of the T-Birds gets the pin on Tripp Bonack at 132 pounds. Gives Lakeland the lead.


Then at 152 pounds, Frank Scandin earned a pinfall, which wrapped up the match for the T-Birds.

Lakeland won 31-30.

Meanwhile in Eagle River, Northland Pines was hosting Military Night. A salute to veterans.

In the boys game, Pines faced Houghton.

The Eagles fell to Houghton 55-27. In the girls game, Northland Pines remained undefeated with a 57-19 victory over Watersmeet.

Joel Jahnke had pleaded no contest to three felony counts, including second degree sexual assault of a child. The victim was 13 years old when she was assaulted.

MADISON - MADISON, Wis. (AP) " Madison police say a 52-year-old man is dead after a stabbing in an apartment.

Officers were called to a four-unit building on West Badger Road about 5:30 a.m. Saturday. The victim was dead at the scene. Police say he was stabbed multiple times.

MADISON - Gov. Scott Walker is hitting the road to promote cheese.

Walker announced Friday that economic development officials, members of his cabinet, lawmakers and University of Wisconsin officials will be spreading out across the state to celebrate growing cheese companies.

Walker is kicking off "Wisconsin Cheese Day" on Monday with a stop at Klondike Cheese in Monroe.
