Local Northwoods residents support Small Business Saturday Submitted: 11/30/2013
Story By Shardaa Gray

RHINELANDER - Most people focus on finding the best deal at big box stores on Black Friday.

But today, it was all about shopping at local businesses.

Today was National Small Business Saturday.

The movement encourages shoppers to support local small businesses during this busy shopping weekend.

American Express started the movement three years ago.

Rhinelander's Forth Floral couldn't stay open without the community's support.

"When I look back over the years that I've been back in Rhinelander with this business, how many of our local businesses are gone, our small businesses," said Forth Floral Co-owner, Ruth Hempel.

"Hopefully it makes people aware that without their support, we can't stay in business to be here."

Small business owners want shoppers to know that even though it's Small Business Saturday, you should shop small everyday.
