- Don Zander of Boulder Junction was all smiles earlier this month. While fishing at a Boulder Junction area lake, he hauled in this huge 49 1/2 inch musky, the biggest one he's ever had. It weighed nearly 40 pounds and had a 24 inch girth. It's the biggest musky he's ever caught. He was using a sucker for bait. After the picture, the fish was released.
Minocqua's Zach Peterson had quite a trip with his dad on a Vilas County lake. Using a minnow for bait, Zack landed this beautiful 26 1/2 inch walleye. It had a 15 inch girth. It's the biggest one the 10-year old has ever caught. This prize is now headed for Zackery's wall.
And with ice fishing just around the corner, Heidi Borlick of Conover reminds us of what to expect. While fishing in lower Buckatabon last year, she caught her biggest Northern. It was 27 inches. After the picture, the first was released.
RHINELANDER - Wild Instincts celebrated the release of BBC's "Supercharged Otters," which filmed at Wild Instincts in Rhinelander.
Saturday's viewing at Rouman Cinema in Rhinelander had a complementary showing of the episode.
The episode features otters that spent seven months with Rehabilitation Director Mark Naniot and his team.
The episode gives people a look into the life of an otter.
"Like everything else it's the web of life. Everything's all interconnected and even if it's just the pure enjoyment of watching an otter swim or catch a fish and seeing how playful they are sliding down a mudslide or sliding through the snow that alone is immeasurable really," said Naniot.
