Northland Pines boys hockey preparing for seasonSubmitted: 11/12/2013
Story By Joe Dufek

EAGLE RIVER - Boys and girls hockey teams are hitting the ice for the first practices of the season.

For the Northland Pines boys, it's a season of high expectations.

Pines will have a different look from last year. The biggest change - Austin Ramesh is graduated and with the Badger football team.

A year ago, the Eagles made to the section semifinals.

Now it's a whole new year - filled with even loftier goals.

"A lot of people think (Northland) Pines is down," head coach Charles DePuydt explains. "I just look at it as we lost some guys - we're back as always. We have two of our top leading scorers back. Two all-conference guys and a second team all-conference goalie back."

Zach Kennedy and Noah Weber are expected to help provide plenty of offensive punch for the Eagles. Jacob Stephan is also back in goal to help keep opponents at bay.

Northland Pines opens the year November 26th against D.C. Everest in Eagle River.
