Gomez wins first Brewers Gold Glove in 31 yearsSubmitted: 10/29/2013
Story By Joe Dufek

BOSTON - Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez was a Gold Glove finalist back in 2008. He was with the Minnesota Twins then. He didn't win that year.

But Tuesday night, he finally nabbed the elusive Gold Glove.

Gomez became the first Brewer in 31 years to win the award.

Gomez made five home run-saving catches and did not commit an error over his last 32 games.

Gomez also was credited with 38 defensive runs saved, which led all center fielders in the major leagues.

Robin Yount was the last Brewer to win the award. That was in 1982 as a shortstop.
The last Brewers outfielder to win? Try Sixto Lezcano in 1979.

Gomez is eligible to win the platinum glove award. That's awarded to the Gold Glove award winner who receives the most votes by the fans as the "best of the best".
