Merrill advances in volleyball regionalsSubmitted: 10/24/2013

MERRILL - Regionals in volleyball continued Thursday night. However, it was the opening match for Division One teams.

Merrill was a #3 seed hosting #14 Menomonie. The two teams split the first two games. However, Merrill would win the next two games to win the match 3 games to 1.

Renee Sladek had 20 kills for the Bluejays.

Merrill will face Marshfield on Saturday in Marshfield. Marshfield swept Rhinelander in their opening round match.

RHINELANDER - A Rhinelander man faces charges for using a gun while drunk.

Prosecutors say 23-year-old Anthony Sackett shot a gun early Saturday morning in downtown Rhinelander.

It happened during a verbal fight near Brown and Davenport Streets around 12:35 a.m. 

According to court documents, Sackett told police he had six drinks that night.
