Sagging bridge expected to open in JanuarySubmitted: 10/23/2013
Story By Associated Press

GREEN BAY - State transportation officials want to reopen the Leo Frigo bridge by the middle of January.

The bridge, that carries interstate 43 over the fox river on green bay's north side, has been closed since september 25.

That's when a dip was discovered in the roadway.

An Investigation showed a pier on the bridge's east side sunk about two feet.

DOT officials blame corrosion in pilings under the pier and under other nearby piers as well.

Construction work is expected to begin on November 4th.
