Body of fallen Marine returned to WisconsinSubmitted: 10/17/2013
Story By NBC

MILWAUKEE - The body of a fallen Marine comes back home to Wisconsin.

The body of Marine Lance Corporal Jeremiah Collins arrived in Milwaukee yesterday afternoon.

Collins was killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan.

Collins' family, friends and supporters were at the airport to receive his body.

Motorcyclists rode alongside a police escort to the funeral home where Collins' body was taken.

The fallen marine's family was thrust into the spotlight at the beginning of the government shutdown.

His family initially DIDN'T receive the emergency death benefits owed to families when their loved one is killed in the line of duty.

Local charities have come forward to help the family and the government has since restored that benefit as well.

Collins will be laid to rest Saturday.
