Northland Pines, Phillips advance in boys soccer regionals
EAGLE RIVER - The post season is underway in boys soccer.

Teams throughout the state with dreams of winning a state championship.

Area teams began their quest in Tuesday's opening round of regionals. Four teams began play at Northland Pines High School in Eagle River.

In Division 3, Levi Pruni scored 3 goals for Northland Pines, as the Eagles picked up an 8-0 shutout over Mosinee.

Meanwhile, in Division 4, Phillips knocked out Three Lakes 5-3. Isaac Bosacki scored the first two goals for the Loggers in a five minute span.

MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee's mayor says he hopes the relationship between police and residents can improve in the wake of an excessive force lawsuit filed by Milwaukee Bucks player Sterling Brown.

Mayor Tom Barrett released a statement Tuesday saying he's hopeful that the NBA player's arrest over a parking violation and the subsequent lawsuit "will be a turning point."

MADISON - Wisconsin agriculture officials have confirmed chronic wasting disease in a doe from a Marinette County breeding farm.

The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection said Monday the National Veterinary Services Laboratory confirmed test results Thursday and the farm was quarantined that same day.

The 2-year-old deer was born on the 230-acre farm in Goodman and died during fawning. The fenced farm has 320 whitetail deer, according to the owner's most recent registration. The farm hadn't been enrolled in the CWD Herd Status Program since May 2017.
