MERRILL - One man sits in jail after a shooting incident in Merrill.

The 911 call came in just after 1 a.m. Sunday saying a vehicle with at least 5 passengers, had just arrived at a Town of Merrill home.

The police report says a 31-year-old suspect was confronting the victims, looking for another person.

When he was told that person was not there, the suspect pulled a hand gun, loaded a round and held it against the head of one of the victims.

After a struggle, the suspect left but was followed by one of the victims.

They stopped at County Rd K and the suspect left the car and shot several rounds before heading in the car towards Merrill.

Police then tracked down the car in Merrill at a tavern.

Inside they found the entire group and the weapon, which was hidden inside one woman's purse.

The four other occupants of the car gave false information to police, leading to all of them being arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing.

The 31-year-old Merrill man is in Lincoln County Jail.

He's charged with felony charges of first degree reckless endangering safety, burglary while armed with a dangerous weapon.

The handgun was recovered along with numerous shell casings.
