RIB LAKE - Alexander Schneider told police he shot a Taylor County Sheriff's Deputy out of anger, rage and depression. That's from a criminal complaint released today.

Earlier this month, police arrested Schneider for shooting Deputy Chad Kowalczyk. Kowalczyk had gone to Schneider's house in Rib Lake to talk to him about violating a restraining order.

Schneider refused to come outside and shot at Kowalczyk through the front door with a rifle. He told police he was aiming for the officer's face. Schneider also said he took a few more shots at him through his bedroom window as Kowalczyk ran to his car. That's when the deputy was hit.

Then Schneider ran to an abandoned house next door and got a sawed-off shotgun he'd hidden in a wall. He said he intended to kill himself.

Surgeons at Aspirus Hospital removed a bullet from Kowalczyk's abdomen. He's since been released from the hospital.

Schneider will be in court for first degree attempted murder tomorrow.
