RHINELANDER - With flu season approaching, health experts want people to get their flu shots now.

Flu shots are now available at the Oneida County Health Department.

There are two types of vaccines available-

The flu shot and the nasal spray.

People between the ages of two and 49-years-old are able to get the nasal spray.

Oneida County Public Health Nurses like to start the vaccinations in September because October is typically known as flu season.

"It takes a good two weeks for the flu shot to work," said Oneida County Public Nurse, Dawn Klink.

"So if you get it now than October, when flu season starts, it really gets going well then you will have your shot and be protected."

This year, there are different shots available that weren't before.

"This is the first year we have available the high dose for people over 65," Van Den Heuvel said.

"Also we have the shot and the nasal that's available that have the protection against four different strains verses in the past we just had the three strains."

Prices for the shots vary between $20 and $50.

You can get your shots between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

You don't need an appointment to get your shots.
