Million dollar bond in shooting of Taylor County deputySubmitted: 09/10/2013
Story By Newswatch 12 Newsteam

WESTBORO - The man accused of shooting a Taylor County Deputy will need to post 1-million dollars to get out of jail.

Police say Alexander Joseph Schneider shot deputy Chad Kowalczyk Sunday night.

Schneider appeared in Taylor County court yesterday afternoon, and a judge set a bond of 1-million dollars.

Formal criminal charges have not yet been filed in the shooting, but the Taylor County District Attorney's office expects a criminal complaint to be issued within the next day or two.

The Taylor County Sheriff's department says the officer contacted Schneider because he violated a court ordered injunction.

Deputy Kowalczyk remains in the hospital.

His uncle is Chippewa County Sheriff James Kowalczyk.

He told us Chad will make a full recovery and should be out of the hospital in five to seven days.
