NEAR TOMAHAWK - A semi truck flipped on its side Tuesday morning.

It was trying to get onto US 51 from Highway 8 at 8:30 this morning when it tipped over.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol and Tomahawk Fire department helped out.

The sheriff's office closed off the ramp around 4 p.m. to get the truck off its side.

Lieutenant Ken Schneider says he's seen this happen more than once at this ramp.

"It happens every once in a while on this corner," Schneider said.

"I think I've been to three in my career. So I've been here 23 years."

Schneider isn't sure what's the cause of the accident, but he thinks speed could have been the cause.

"From this one we have very minimal leakage. Like I said it's asphalt sealant. It's not an explosive anyway." said Schneider.

The lieutenant says they won't know when the ramp will be reopened.

The truck was carrying a tank full of asphalt, but none of it spilled.

The company brought out another semi-truck to transfer the load.

The driver of the truck wasn't hurt.
