Big racing weekend ends in CrandonSubmitted: 09/01/2013
Story By Joe Dufek

CRANDON - What's believed to be a record weekend wrapped up today. The World Off-Road Championships. It's part of the TORC series.

However, the racing was pushed back about 2 hours this morning.

Rain this morning was the culprit.

But once the action started, fans got their money's worth.

This is the Pro Buggy final. Bradley Morris of California was the winner. Rhinelander's Scott Schwalbe finished 5th.

The signature race, the AMSOIL Cup. C-J Graves and his father John from Abrams finished first and second in a photo finish.

C-J won $40,000 prize.

Crandon Raceway officials were pleased with the great weekend.

"A world championship of any kind (is the signature event)," track president Clifford Flannery explains. "We've got the most racers we've ever had this weekend."

Over 200 drivers competed over the three days. No official attendance available yet, however it's expected to be more than 20,000. It could even be a record crowd.

We'll have more on the big weekend this Wednesday night in our "Northwoods Spotlight."
