Story By Joe Dufek

RHINELANDER - The Rhinelander 9-10 year old Little League All-Star team is making history.

Rhinelander will be making their first ever appearance at state.

Rhinelander won the District 5 championship last week in Wausau.

The team still has a couple of weeks before they begin play at state. Their tournament begins August 10th in Rice Lake.

Right now, the team is working on improving on all aspects of their game. Everyone is excited to be the first team from Rhinelander to make it to state.

"The kids have done a nice job," says head coach Paul Johnson. "They like each other. They work hard and they're fun to be around."

"It's a good feeling," adds Payton Johnson - who plays second base. "Because we're the first team from Rhinelander to play at state."

"We need to (give) alot of respect," outfielder Walker Hartman explains. "(We have) a responsibility to fans and family to say it's a team effort. There is no "I" in team."

Rhinelander Little League is hoping to for some donor support to help with the costs for the state tournament. Area businesses and individuals can contact Rhinelander Little League President Jeff Welk at (715) 360-0814.
