Bark for Life event promotes cancer research in NorthwoodsSubmitted: 07/25/2013
Story By Rachel Skytta

RHINELANDER - The American Cancer Society and TLC Dog Training will bring a new event to the Northwoods next month. it's called bark for life.

The event will be similar to Relay for Life, but including dogs.

Bark for life promotes the healing benefits that canines offer to humans suffering from cancer.

"Dogs offer a lot of companionship to people who are sick and vice versa. We've lost dogs to cancer too, and we were there for them. So it kind of goes as one big circle," says TLC Owner and event sponsor Carol Lofquist.

The event will have something for everyone and their four legged friends to enjoy.

That includes a two mile walking course, food vendors, and dog agility demonstrations.

"It's all money raised for a very good cause. And people love their animals. And when we love our animals our animals will love us back," Lofquist says.

Bark for Life will take place on August 24 at the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport beginning 9 a.m.

Pre-registration is $10 per dog and $15 on the day of the event.
