Woman charged as adult for sex crimes when she was ten Submitted: 07/22/2013
Story By Associated Press

WAUSAU - A 19 year old central Wisconsin woman faces charges as an adult for sex crimes when she was just 10 years old.

She is accused of two felony counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child.

According to a Marathon County criminal complaint, an investigation began in March of 20-11.

A 14 year old girl told investigators that about 10 years ago, the suspect told her and two other children to perform sex acts on each other.

Marathon County Deputy District Attorney Theresa Wetzsteon says the Weston woman is being charged as an adult because the crime wasn't reported until the suspect was older than 17.

At that point, she couldn't legally be charged in juvenile court. A status conference is set for September 16th.
