Hoosier School of Basketball makes stop in Rhinelander
RHINELANDER - For many young athletes, summertime means going to camp. The Hoosier School of Basketball made a stop in Rhinelander this week to teach students from 4th-12th grade.

The camp director is Woody Wilson. He has nearly 50 years of coaching experience and is a member of the Wisconsin basketball coaches hall of fame.

Wilson says it's all about getting back to the basics.

RHINELANDER - Freezing-cold days like the Northwoods is seeing this week usually make people avoid anything wet. But a pair of Rhinelander Parks Department workers did the opposite Tuesday, breaking out a hose hooked up to a fire hydrant.

Parks Director Jeremy Biolo and a coworker sprayed down the green space in front of Trig's for several hours.  They were forming the first of many layers for a new skating rink outside the grocery store.  Biolo says it's a slow process that will take a few days.

ELCHO - An Elcho couple's Christmas tradition now serves as a tradition for many others in the Northwoods.

Carl and Lissa Bloechl spent only a week setting up thanks to the stretch of warm weather early in the season.

It's common for the couple to drop everything to take an emergency EMT call, which adds time to decorating.
 
They say they can't stop the display though.

MADISON - Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel is asking the state Supreme Court to block state Superintendent Tony Evers from getting his own attorney in a lawsuit challenging his office's powers.

Late Monday, Schimel asked the court to reject Evers's request to disqualify Schimel from representing him.

RHINELANDER - An orthodontic office in Rhinelander wants you to add one more person to your holiday card mailing list.

Dr. Joshua Bruce of Schmidt and Bruce Orthodontics is organizing this year's "Hope and Healing" thank-you card program for wounded veterans.

Dr. Darrell Schmidt first collected the cards for injured service members around Christmas last year.

Bruce says helping veterans is something he cares deeply about.
