Antigo Little League looks for more at stateSubmitted: 07/18/2013
Story By Joe Dufek

ANTIGO - Antigo is off to the state Little League tournament this weekend. The 11-12 year old team won the District 5 title last week.

It was the second straight time they won the crown.

This year the tournament is in Waupun.

When you need to pay for hotel rooms, meals, and travel for players, coaches, and parents - it gets pretty expensive.

Antigo had a couple of brat fries this week. They raised about $2000 to help cut some of the costs.

Last year, Antigo finished second at state. The players had fun helping out at the fund raisers.

"The best thing is doing 'sign-dancing'," says Nevin Cornelius - an outfielder and catcher on the team. "We've got our brat fry sign and just dance telling folks to come over."

This is Nevin's first trip to state.

But some players were on last year's state team. Sebastian Noskowiak likes Antigo's chances.

"Our whole team can pitch," Noskowiak explains. "And we've got all kinds of kids who can hit and somehow get on base."

Their first game is Saturday afternoon.
