Legion Tournament in MerrillSubmitted: 07/13/2013
Story By Marisa Silvas

ATHLETIC PARK, MERRILL - In Legion Baseball Merrill is hosting a tournament this weekend at historic Athletic Park. The home team taking on Beloit.

Top of the 1st runner on second. Ty Grunenwald lays down the bunt, the throw to first gets away and Alex Cordova comes home to put Merrill on the board first.

Bottom of the frame some nice defense from Merrill. Brady Borrell swings and misses. After securing the out at first they also catch the runner at third and get the great double play.

Top of the second Alex Klug gets ahold of this one but it's not deep enough.

Beloit would go on to take today's game 4-2 the final.

The Rhinelander Rebels taking on the number 4 Legion team in the state Holmen.

And Holmen showed why they're ranked that high.

Top of the third Vic Berkley drives one down the line in left. Brett Kabat comes home to put Holmen up 8-zip and that would be part of a 7 run inning..
Bottom of the inning 2 on for Rhinelander. Trevor Young with the chopper, Brevin Persick charges home and beats the throw to put the Rebels on the board.

But it was all Holmen today they won 13-1 in 5 innings. The tourney wraps up tomorrow.
