Rhinelander sharp shooter wins state competitionSubmitted: 07/08/2013
Story By Joe Dufek

RHINELANDER - Rhinelander's Jim Sarkauskas has been involved in shooting sports for 25 years.

At 68 years old, he's considered among some of the best competitors in the state.

Last weekend, he competed at a state event held in Hudson. He won the senior veteran's division title.

Jim recently earned All-American status in the sport. It's the second time he's done that in three years.

Jim is the owner of Rancho Del Zorro shooting academy just outside of Rhinelander.

He enjoys competing against shooters who can be half his age. And some are even younger.

"I love it, I love the competition," Sarkauskas explains. "I've shot where I was the only English speaking participant and loved ever minute of it."

Wednesday night at 10pm in our "Northwoods Spotlight," we'll have more on this 2-time All-American shooter. He even put his teaching skills to the test by giving Joe Dufek a lesson. We'll see how he fared."
