RHINELANDER - If you use AT&T, you may notice a new 4G icon on your cell phone's screen.
4G means you'll get faster mobile internet.
AT&T expanded its mobile internet coverage in the Northwoods.
4G became available to customers within the last week.
AT&T's 4G service is available in much of the Northwoods but they're working to make 4G available in all areas.
AT&T spokesman Jim Greer says, "In the last three years we spent $725 million dollars in Wisconsin on our network, and our customers know that we are willing to invest in Wisconsin and having an excellent network there."
AT&T spokesman Jim Greer says getting faster mobile internet to customers takes time.
He says they have to get permits to add new technology to each cell tower.
"When we build something we build it right. You know our competitors may be out there in front of us sometimes on this stuff but we're building with a better, more robust technology that's going to deliver a better experience in the long run."
Rhinelander, Antigo, Wabeno, Pelican Lake, and Laona all have 4G now through AT&T.
RHINELANDER - A Rhinelander couple thought they were empty nesters. However, an experience volunteering made them open their doors back up to kids who need a temporary home. The Zoerb's adult children moved out years ago. But at any moment they could get a call from social services that make them bring out their parenting skills for another round. Rick and Danielle Zoerb work together as realtors putting people in homes that are the perfect fit. However, the husband and wife know their home can be a good fit for others too. "There's no reason for kids to have to fall through the cracks," said Dani. Rick met a child at a mentorship program a few years ago. It was a meeting that opened a new door for him and his wife. "There was no hesitation on our part when we felt the situation was deteriorating for this young boy," said Rick.
