One woman dead in Marathon County crash Submitted: 07/02/2013

TOWNSHIP OF DAY - A car crash in Marathon County leaves one woman dead and two others injured.

It happened last night just after 5 on State Highway 97, north of Highway C in the Township of Day.

Marathon County Sheriff's Deputies say the crash involved four vehicles.

Highway 97 was shut down for four hours following the crash.

A woman was pronounced dead and one man and one woman were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Names are not being released at this time.

Marathon County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating.

RHINELANDER - Last year, a valve malfunction in eastern Wisconsin sent natural gas leaking into the air. A similar situation in the Northwoods could cut off gas supply to a whole city and be dangerous to people in the nearby area.

Wisconsin Public Service wants to be ready in case something like that happens. A natural gas station near the intersection of Highways 8 and 47 provides natural gas to most of Rhinelander. Workers rushed there on Monday, simulating their response to a leak.
