New section of Three Eagle Trail opens SaturdaySubmitted: 06/28/2013

EAGLE RIVER - A new way to travel between Eagle River and Three Lakes opens Saturday.

It's the third section of the Three Eagle Trail to open.

People will meet at the Eagle River Dairy Queen at 10am.

They will then hike to the dedication site about 2 miles away.

Food and drinks will be served after the ceremony.

The Three Eagle Trail is a scenic hiking and biking trail between Three Lakes and Eagle River.

The total cost for the project is more than 600,000 dollars.

MADISON - Wisconsin voters will likely need to show an I-D during the August primary.

A federal judge is hearing challenges to Wisconsin's voter identification law.

U.S. District Judge James Peterson says the rules for the August primary election will be the same as they were for the April presidential primary.

The judge expects to issue a ruling in the lawsuit by the end of July.

Because of that, the judge did not think it would be realistic to make any changes to the August 9th election.

MADISON - The state Department of Natural Resources board has unanimously approved shrinking the number of counties where hunters can shoot only bucks this fall.

The board signed off Wednesday on a fall season framework that makes 10 northern Wisconsin counties buck-only. That number is down from 19 counties in 2014 and 12 last year.

THREE LAKES - You may soon be able to ride your ATV on parts of State Highway 32 in Three Lakes, if the state DOT approves the new route in the next few weeks.

The Three Lakes Nicolet ATV Club wants to connect downtown Three Lakes to the Nicolet National Forest.

To do that, it needs to open up parts of a six-mile portion of Highway 32 from Town Road X or Javen Road to Lake Julia Road.

MADISON - Wisconsin is joining a multi-state lawsuit against the Obama administration over its directive to U.S. public schools to let transgender students use the bathrooms and locker rooms matching their gender identity.

The lawsuit was announced by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and filed in federal court in Texas on Wednesday.
