RC Havoc racing with kids
CRANDON - Keeping your kids entertained in the summer can be tough.

But one Northwoods program keeps kids busy, out of trouble and teaches them to work together.

Crandon is known around the world for its international off-road racing course.

But it was at a much smaller track, where people were making a big difference.

Friday was the third and final day of the Mole Lake 4-H, RC event.

Kids looked over blue prints, built cars and raced them against each other.

Jordan Brooks comes from a family of RC car lovers. She learned more than just how to build them.

"If somebody gets done, help them right away, do what you can to help and use team work," Brooks said.

Richard Ackley arranged the program.

He hopes it continues because of the training it gives kids.

"It helps their skills with manual dexterity, and also learning what electronics are about," Ackley said. "All of this is going to enrich their learning experience for the future."

Ackley is trying to host this program again in August with more kids.

If you are interested, you can contact Ackley at the University of Wisconsin Forest County Extension.
