WOODRUFF - Woodruff also had another big event to celebrate today.

It's the towns 125th anniversary.

The town kicked off the celebration with a 5-k run, car show and of course participating in the parade.

Woodruff has officially been part of the Northwoods since 1888.

Board chairman Mike Timmons says it's a privilege to be a part of this town.

"It's an honor to be a part of the town, the history and to keep it going," said Timmons.

"Try to get everybody involved and it's where we are."

There was such a big turn out, Timmons says they won't need to wait for milestone anniversaries to celebrate.

"We're going to have this event and the parade every year," Timmons said.

"We're planning on it and hopefully we can incorporate the doctor Kate museums efforts as well."

Timmons says they won't celebrate the town's birthday next year, but they will keep honoring the troops for Memorial Day.
