TOMAHAWK - If you're a racing fan... you'll be busy this weekend... all three area tracks are in action.
Dirt was flying tonight for the season opener at Tomahawk Speedway.
The first heat of the evening went to the pure stock class. Joe Johnson Sr. from Lac du Flambeau jumped out in front and kept the lead after a caution on the 7th lap to win the heat. Michael Brown of Tomahawk won the feature.
In the street stock class the 711 car took a quick lead and never looked back. Jason Jensen from Eagle River took first and was a half lap in front of the rest of the field and Tomahawks Keith Troutman took the feature.
RHINELANDER - Usually when we think of people fighting world hunger, collecting food donations and other community service events come to mind. But a group of kids from Rhinelander are fighting world hunger a different way.
On Sunday, 14 people, including kids in grades five through 12 and some of their parents, set out on a weeklong 250 mile bike ride to raise money. They're all part of Rhinelander's Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Pastor Tammy Barthels says this is a great way for kids to learn about world hunger.
