Unemployment Down for Most of StateSubmitted: 05/23/2013

MADISON - Some northwoods counties got left behind as unemployment rates IMPROVED almost everywhere in Wisconsin last month.

The state Department of Workforce Development said yesterday that unemployment got worse in April in Price, Menominee and Calumet counties.

Unemployment stayed the same in Iron and Langlade counties.

Rates improved in the other 67 counties.

The highest unemployment rate was in Menominee County, at 15.6 percent.

Iron county was second worst at 14.1 percent.

Vilas county had the third highest unemployment for April at 12.3 percent.

The statewide unemployment rate for April was 7.1 percent.
