Lakeland, Tomahawk advance to Golf SectionalSubmitted: 05/22/2013

TOMAHAWK - On Tuesday, Tomahawk hosted a Division 2 Boys Golf Regional at Inshalla Country Club. The Top four teams and top four individuals advance to next week's sectional in Barron.

Hayward won the team title. Lakeland was second. Tomahawk and Northland Pines were tied for fourth. However, Tomahawk won the tie breaker and moved on.

Jacob Stephan of Northland Pines, and Medford's Jon Phillips were individual qualifiers.

In Division 1, Stevens Point won the Wausau West regional team title. Marshfield was second, Wausau West Third, and D.C. Everest was fourth. All four teams advance to next week's sectional in Stevens Point.


Individual qualifiers include Merril's Max Barnaczyk and Mike Pagel, Tony LeBrun of Antigo and Collin Sturm of Wausau East.

In Division 3, Crandon was second in their regional at Niagara. Derek Thorn of Three Lakes, Wabeno golfers Robbie Rocole and Andrew Shepard, and Mark Hanson of Elcho advanced. They will compete at Weyauwega-Fremont.

VILAS COUNTY - A Lac du Flambeau woman accused of stealing more than $100,000 from a Vilas County contracting company took a plea deal Monday.

Forty-nine-year-old Samantha Chapman pled guilty to felony theft, fraudulent writings, and tax fraud.

In exchange, prosecutors will drop several other charges and won't recommend prison time.
