MILWAUKEE - Carlos Gomez hit a go-ahead two-run double, Jonathan Lucroy had three hits and an RBI and five Milwaukee relievers combined for five scoreless innings as the Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 Tuesday night.
Mike Fiers (1-2), Michael Gonzalez, John Axford, Brandon Kintzler and Jim Henderson pitched Milwaukee to only its fourth victory in its last 19 games by allowing a total of just four singles. Henderson threw the ninth for his ninth save, striking out pinch-hitter Scott Van Slyke with runners on first and second.
Zach Greinke (2-1), making his second start since returning from a broken left collarbone, gave up nine hits and five earned runs in four-plus innings against his former team en route to his first careere loss at Miller Park.
The right-hander, traded by the Brewers to the Los Angeles Angels last July 27, had won his first 15 decisions in Milwaukee.
MERRILL - A Northwoods school pulled off a big surprise on Friday to honor a few veterans. After months of planning, students and staff at Kate Goodrich Elementary got to see the payoff of all their hard work.
"It was like kind of overwhelming," said Wolfgang Lenk.
Lenk, Todd Annis, and Randy Perry had no idea they would be the guests of honor.
"To see all these kids and knowing how hard they worked selling all this, and now your name comes up that you're one of the three recipients, it was awesome," said Annis.
