Stevens Point native Shows Plenty of EnergeeSubmitted: 04/28/2013

MILWAUKEE - Becky Lewandowski of Stevens Point made her presence known during Sunday's game. Becky is a member of the Energee, the Bucks official dance team.

Becky just wrapped up her first year on the team. She is one of six rookies on the team. 11 dancers makeup the Energee Roster.

Dancing is Bucky's passion. In fact, she earned a degree at UW-Stevens Point.

"Performing in front of thousands of people, I've never done it before," says Becky. "It's amazing. Definitely an adrenaline rush."


"Becky is one of my top performers," adds Energee Team Manager Tricia Crawford. "She is great with the fans. She's earned one of those spots that are featured in the routines."

PHILLIPS - Dozens of manufacturing workers in Phillips could face hard times in the next few months. The Georgia-Pacific plant in town will close on October 27, and 53 employees will be laid off.

Georgia-Pacific told us the workers are great, but a poor market for specialty wood board products is forcing the closure.

WAUSAU - A Marathon County inmate who ran away finds himself back in jail.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Matthew Hornung at the Wausau American Legion Golf Course Thursday morning.  Someone saw the 31-year-old man hiding in the woods near the golf course and called police.  

Hornung disappeared Wednesday.

He was cleared to go to an off-site meeting, but cut off his GPS tracker and vanished.

He is in custody on an Alernative to Revocation for his probation.

Court records show Hornung was convicted of misdemeanor battery in 2012.

FOX LAKE, IL - Authorities believe they've recovered video that will help the investigation into who killed a police officer in northern Illinois.

Lake County Major Crime Task Force Cmdr. George Filenko told reporters Thursday that a private resident came forward with the video from a home security system.

TOMAH - The director of the Tomah VA Medical Center has been fired, becoming the second top official to depart amid reports of over-medication practices.

The La Crosse Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1NcpODu ) that acting director John Rohrer sent an email to employees Wednesday stating only that Mario Desanctis "is no longer employed" by the VA.

ANTIGO - Growers in Langlade County might see a familiar face the next time they need help with crops. UW-Extension Langlade County recently hired an interim agriculture agent last month. While he may be new to some, it's a job he's done before.

"I served in this position in Langlade County during the 1990s for about seven years," explained UW-Extention Agriculture Agent Stephen Zimmerman. "I was actually working as a grain and vegetable crops agent in this county, Marathon, and Lincoln. Previous to that, I completed my PhD in agronomy. "

ASHLAND, KY - A federal judge has ordered a defiant Kentucky clerk to jail after she refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

U.S. District Judge David Bunning told Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis she would be jailed until she complied with his order to issue the licenses.

MADISON - Wisconsin's bear hunting season is set to begin next week.

The season is slated to begin on Sept. 9 and run through Oct. 13. State Department of Natural Resources officials say they've issued a record 10,690 permits. The old record was 10,340 permits, set last year.
