Local War Hero, Jim Pelletier Passes AwaySubmitted: 04/28/2013
Story By Lyndsey Stemm

RHINELANDER - We have sad news tonight for the Rhinelander community. Local war hero and lifetime city resident, Jim Pelletier passed away Friday.

Jim has been on Newswatch 12 a number of times to talk about veterans, and his experiences in World War Two. He was our local link to that period of our history-- helping us help others to remember.

I had the honor of listening to Jim's stories during an interview about his time as a prisoner of war.

Jim's son says he had surgery earlier this week, and that he fought hard, but just didn't make it.

Jim was 91 years old, had been married for 67 years, and had 13 great-grand children. His family says he was a dedicated man to his family and country.
