Northwoods Spotlight: Northland Pines' Jessica Roach Apr 24
Story By Marisa Silvas

EAGLE RIVER - Despite the snow for a good portion of the Northwoods, hockey season has been over for a couple of months.

But for a Northland Pines hockey player, she gets to compete in an elite tournament in Plymouth, MN.

For Jessica Roach, it's time to put on her game-face. She'll be representing Wisconsin this weekend in the National Invitational Tournament.

SOTS - Jessica Roach (National Invitational Tournament Team) "All of my friends were so excited," says Roach. "It was just awesome because everyone here was just really proud of me."

Patrick Schmidt (Northland Pines Head Coach) "I've been able to see some of the top ranked teams in the state," adds Northland Pines head coach Patrick Schmidt. "I've been able to see the top defensemen in the state, and I truly believe that she could compete at that level."

Jessica tried out with 90 high school girls for a spot on the team. She was one of only 18 to make the squad. A huge benefit to the tournament is that Jessica will have the chance to skate in front of college coaches.
