Lincoln County Joins Fight Against Online PredatorsSubmitted: 04/24/2013

MERRILL - Parents worry about who might find their kids online.

But Wisconsin's Attorney General wants to make sure your kids are safe, even virtually.

A Wisconsin task force arrested 131 suspected child predators last year.

By joining the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Lincoln County will now be able to tap into that law enforcement push.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office will now be able to use training and investigators from the state Department of Justice to help find predators.

"I think everywhere, we're dealing with everyone with computers, text messaging, video messaging, so it's readily available to even the young and old alike. With that growing, we need to keep up with the times," says Sgt. Investigator Tom Barker of Lincoln County.

Almost 200 law enforcement agencies have joined the Task Force since 2007.

Marathon County joined in February.

CRANDON - A Forest County man spent nine months in jail for a gang-related stabbing. Now, 24-year-old Dakota Tuckwab will spend another two years in prison on a sexual assault charge. 

On Monday, Tuckwab pled guilty to third-degree sexual assault after repeated assaults on a 15-year-old girl. He was out of jail serving probation for a stabbing in Mole Lake in 2012.
