Story By Newswatch 12 Sports

EAGLE RIVER - Like many Northwoods softball teams, Northland Pines is still waiting to get the season started.

Last weekend, they hosted Marathon in an indoor scrimmage. Pines has a new coach. He's Mike Cox.

The Eagles only won 5 games last year. They're hoping with a new coach, a winning feeling is also in the future.

"Being in (the gym), the girls are doing really well," said Coach Cox. "We all look good in here. I'm anxious to see how we look outside."

"I worked for (Coach Cox) before in summer league," adds Eagles junior Morgan Munnik. "I know he's a good coach and pushed this team pretty hard in practice. I think it's going pretty well."
