- The snow has played havoc on the spring sports season. But area anglers continue to plug away on the ice.

Marisa Silvas tells us your stories in this week's "Big Ol' Fish."

Crandon's Ryan Alloway took a trip with his dad to Door County. The 13-year old went out with JJ's guide service and brought in this 25 inch walleye. Ryan hooked it on a green oddball in 16 feet of water... and this catch made his vacation even more special.

Paul Harder of Tomahawk went ice fishing a few weeks ago on an area lake.


He was pleased to come away with this beauty. The crappie made his outing worthwhile and measured 14 and a half inches.

Many people may be frustrated with the snow... but last Monday, Joe Beda was loving it, cause he got a snow day from North Lakeland Elementary. Joe went out on Fish Trap Lake with his grandpa John and caught some blue gills. They used wax worms with a jig and kept the fish. He'll be celebrating his 10th birthday next week and says the gills made for a nice meal.

MADISON - Gov. Scott Walker is calling on his state Department of Transportation secretary to deliver a full two-year spending request earlier than usual.

PHILLIPS - Police want to figure out what caused the death of a 16-year-old girl in Phillips.

At about 6 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to an apartment in downtown Phillips following a report of a medical emergency. When they arrived, they found the girl unresponsive and not breathing.

MADISON - A report from the Institute of Research on Poverty says the poverty rate in Wisconsin remained flat between 2013 and 2014 despite an increase in jobs.

Researchers for the study say the state's poverty rate held steady at around 10.8 percent between 2013 and 2014.
