Time Running Short to File TaxesSubmitted: 04/09/2013
Story By Associated Press

MADISON - People who will not get their taxes done on time should start thinking about filing for an extension.

Monday is the deadline for filing tax returns.

Taxpayers who seek a federal extension will automatically get a state one.

They can file for a federal extension online or by mail.

Those who file for an extension have until October 15th to file their returns and pay any tax.

They'll also have to pay interest on any tax they owe.

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue says taxpayers should request an online payment plan if they can't pay their taxes in full.

Payment plan and extension applications are available on the department's website.
