Nobody Hurt in Early Morning FireSubmitted: 04/07/2013
Story By Lyndsey Stemm

LAKE TOMAHAWK - Fire crews will look into what caused a house fire this morning in Lake Tomahawk.

A passerby called police around 7:30 AM when they saw smoke coming out of a house. The home is on Fawn Lake Road just off Highway 47.

"It was venting out the one window and going up the wall, but we had a real good initial knockdown and control until we were able to get the people here to take care of it. It was actually on two floors; both in the basement and the first floor. It tried to extend into the second, but it stopped," says Lake Tomahawk Fire Chief Doug Rehm.

Nobody was in the house at the time.

Crews had the fire under control after about 20 minutes, and were able to start packing up around 9:15 AM. Dozens of firefighters were on hand from Lake Tomahawk, Newbold, Pine Lake and Rhinelander.

The fire started near a bathroom but the cause is still under investigation.
