$100,000 in Box Leads to Jail Time for YungermanSubmitted: 04/05/2013
RHINELANDER - Finding more than $100,000 in a box tends to get noticed if found by the police.

In this case, it will end up sending 26-year-old Andrew Yungerman to jail.

"Law enforcement's attention was drawn to a box which contained over $100,000 in cash. The box was to be shipped to a location in the state of Washington. A drug dog hit on the box, so we knew that it was associated with drugs," says prosecutor Jodie Bednar-Clemens.

The box was an April 2012 payment by Yungerman to his Washington cousin for a large amount of marijuana.

For his involvement, Yungerman will go to jail for six months as part of three years on probation.

That was the plea deal he agreed to today.

"We feel it was appropriate. It was a significant amount of marijuana. To me, the most important component of the sentence is this individual will be on probation for a long period of time. He'll do a significant amount of jail time, but more importantly, he'll be on supervision for a long period of time," Bednar-Clemens says.

Yungerman will also be forced to testify against his aunt in Wisconsin and his cousin in Washington if their cases go to trial.

Those two were also allegedly involved in the drug ring.
