Walker Plans Forestry Tour in Northern WisconsinSubmitted: 04/04/2013

MADISON - Governor Scott Walker plans to spend Friday in northern Wisconsin on a forestry tour.

He also plans stops at the production floor of Louisiana Pacific Corp. and a wood yard at Great Lakes Renewable Energy, both in Hayward.

Walker spokesman Cullen Werwie says forestry officials invited Walker to tour the sites and plan on meeting with him Friday.

RHINELANDER - Two Northwoods communities might trade their own ambulances for what Oneida County thinks will be a better combined service.

The county is asking Sugar Camp and Three Lakes to consolidate their ambulances for one, centrally located rig.  A new garage would go up near County Highway A on Thunder Lake Road between the two towns.

Oneida County Emergency Management Director Ken Kortenhof says that rig would be staffed 24/7 by the highest-level paramedic.  The two towns had a combined 365 calls for ambulance trips to the hospital last year.

EAGLE RIVER - A volunteer team that backs up emergency responders hoped someone would donate a generator for their new mobile canteen trailer.  They just never expected that donation to come in so soon.

Salvation Army Emergency Radio Network (SATERN) area coordinator Paul Clay fired up his new Generac generator Thursday afternoon.

Barbara Ann Just from Boulder Junction heard about Clay's need after Newswatch 12 ran a story on SATERN receiving the canteen trailer donation.  Just called to offer enough money to buy the generator that night.

GREEN BAY - Wisconsin is seeing another jump in flu cases with five times the amount of confirmed cases compared to this time last year.

Data from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services shows the state has had nearly 940 confirmed flu cases, compared to nearly 180 at the same point of last year's flu season.
